Tax Season is Here!

Filed under: taxes, Uncategorized — admin @ 05:28

We are well on our way through this year’s tax season! I hope most of us have already filed or are working hard to get our information in order. If you weren’t organized I hope you’ll remember the frustration you felt and get stared early on finding a system that will help keep you organized throughout the year.

My first tip is to clean out a drawer in a filing cabinet or purchase a file box specifically for housing all papers related to your taxes. Fill hanging file folders with individual folders for your income and any deductions you have including car license, home mortgage interest and insurance, donations, school loan interest, business expenses etc. Looking over last years taxes will help you know which information you’ll need to file your taxes next year.

When it’s time to gather up your information it will be in one convenient location. Once your taxes are filed, place all your receipts into an expanding file along with a copy of that tax return, should you ever be audited, and keep in a safe place. A fire proof file cabinet or safe deposit box are some options for safe keeping of any and all important paper work.
